2025 Sony Open: Players in first full-field event of PGA Tour season

The PGA Tour moves from Maui to Honolulu for the Sony Open in Hawaii.

The Tour began in 2025 with The Sentry, open to “24” winners and players who finished in the top 50 in FedExCup points. Sony is the first full-field event of the season, featuring 144 players competing for an $8.7 million purse.

While seven Korn Ferry Tour and Q-School graduates are currently on the alternate list, this is a marked improvement over last year, when 21 of the rotation players were not on the initial list. KFT graduates Noah Goodwin and Aldrich Potgieter are among this year’s sponsorship waivers, as is Q-School graduate Takumi Kanaya.

At least for now, it appears that the PGA Tour, by reducing the number of people who complete the FedExCup and maintain full exempt status from 125 to 100, has not increased the urgency for current members to attend more events.
