Arteta ´really worried´ by Saka injury in Palace win

He said he was “really worried” because of the hamstring injury Bukayo Saka suffered during Arsenal’s 5-1 defeat at Crystal Palace.

The England winger was forced off in the 24th minute at Selhurst Park and later left the stadium on crutches.

It is the second hamstring problem for Saka this season, who was sidelined for several weeks after suffering the same injury on international duty in October.

The 23-year-old suffered a foot injury in May which ruled him out of Arsenal’s final game of the 2023-24 campaign against Everton.

And Arteta could not hide his concern at Sakka’s latest setback.

“He felt something in his hamstring, he couldn’t continue,” the Gunners head coach said. “He needs to be evaluated, so [I am] Really worried about that one.

“It’s very difficult to do [comment of the extent of the injury] Now it’s on the same foot. I don’t know how big it’s going to be.”

The Spaniard is also awaiting the extent of Raheem Sterling’s training ground injury on Friday.

“We don’t know how long that is either,” Arteta added. “It’s not good to lose two players in 24 hours.

“I am not surprised by the amount of games being played every three days. But the team will respond to that.”
