Liverpool ended 2024 as Arne Slott’s side stormed to a 5-0 Premier League victory away to West Ham.
The Reds have now opened up an eight-point gap at the top of the table over Nottingham Forest, with rivals Chelsea and Arsenal both in action over the coming days.
Liverpool eliminated the Hammers in ruthless style with Luiz Diaz, Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and substitute Diogo Jota all on target.
Salah continued his fine form at the London Stadium with a goal and two assists, taking his Premier League tally to 17 and 13 respectively in both metrics.
He has been involved in 30 goals in just 18 Premier League games this season, the fewest appearances of any player to be involved in 30 goals in a campaign in the competition.
Salah has scored and assisted in eight different Premier League games for Liverpool, already the most by any player in a single campaign in the competition.
The Egyptian has scored 20+ goals in all competitions in his eight seasons with Liverpool.
Among Premier League players (since 1992–93), only Alan Shearer (10) and Harry Kane (nine) have had more 20+ goal campaigns than Liverpool forwards.
Despite speculation surrounding his future at Anfield, Salah is happy to lead Liverpool to the title in 2025, but is taking nothing for granted at this stage of the campaign.
“The only thing on my mind is I want Liverpool to win the league and I want to be part of it,” he told Sky Sports at full-time.
“I will give my best to win the league trophy for the team. We have a few other teams with us and we have to stay focused and humble and go again.”
Salah’s form will be crucial to Liverpool’s chances of securing their second Premier League title in 2025.
However, he confirmed that there has been no progress in ongoing contract extension talks, as he left the final six months of his current deal in January.
Liverpool now have the bonus of an extended break ahead of their first game of 2025 against Manchester United next Sunday.
