Neil Maupe risked the wrath of Everton fans after taking a swipe at his parent club on social media.
The 28-year-old is currently on loan at Ligue 1 side Marseille, having endured a difficult time with the Toffees since joining from Brighton in 2022.
Maupe scored just one goal in 29 Premier League appearances at Goodison Park and spent last season on loan at former club Brentford.
After Everton were beaten 2-0 by high-flying Nottingham Forest on Sunday, the Frenchman took aim at Sean Dyche on his social media channels afterwards.
He wrote in X: “Whenever I’m having a bad day I just check the Everton score and smile.”
According to Sky Sports News, Everton will handle the matter internally and privately.
The Toffees are 16th in the Premier League table with 17 points from 18 matches, just three clear of the relegation zone.
