Haaland excited to combine with ´special´ Marmoush after Man City debut

Erling Haaland is looking forward to linking up with “special” Omar Marmoush after Manchester City’s new signing impressed on his debut.

Marmaush played 74 minutes of City’s 3-1 win over Chelsea on Saturday, marking his first appearance since joining from Eintracht Frankfurt earlier this week.

The Egypt international almost ended his debut with a goal in the first half, only for the offside flag to deny him, before the second leg went close at the Etihad Stadium.

Haaland, who scored one goal and set up another for Phil Foden, believes Marmouse has already shown the quality that City have targeted him for.

“I think especially in the first half you can see that he has something special,” Haaland told Sky Sports. “There’s a reason why City brought him in, because he has something special.

“He has come straight into the team and needs to get to know him as soon as possible because there are a lot of important matches coming up.

“It’s about giving him confidence and he’s going to be a great player for us.”

Haaland is well aware of the move away from the Bundesliga. Like Marmaus, the Norwegian talisman impressed in competition with Borussia Dortmund before joining City.

Marmoush will add a different dimension to Guardiola’s attack, with the former Eintracht attacker regularly making narrow runs to support Haaland.

His work rate has also been impressive, with Marmaus winning five duels against Chelsea, more than any City player since Mateo Kovacic (six).

“It’s always nice [to have new faces]. I became a new player before trying to bring a different energy and a different personality,” Haaland added.

“It’s good to meet new people and of course play with good players, that’s what you want.”

Marmausch managed 15 goals and provided 10 assists in just 17 Bundesliga appearances for Eintracht in 2024-25, and Haaland hopes his team-mate can now have a similar impact on the blue side of Manchester.

“He had an amazing first half of the season for Eintracht Frankfurt and hopefully, he is now going to have the same second half with us,” Haaland concluded.
