Two days before the Spurs defeat, Rashford said in an eye-opening interview that he was “ready for a new challenge and the next step” in his career starting at United’s academy.
United boss Amorim told Sky Sports on Monday: “It’s a difficult situation but I understand that there are a lot of people around a player like this and to make some choices that are sometimes not the player’s first impression.”
“So I realize I can take things apart. I’m always here to help Marcus as another player and do what they need to do.
“I say they chose that interview because it’s not just Marcus. I understand that for me as a coach I only focus on performance, the way he trains.
“The rest, I think, is better for me and the club to deal with when the time comes.
It’s a difficult situation but I understand that a player like that (Marcus Rashford) has a lot of people around them and to make some choices that are sometimes not the first impression of the player.

“At the moment I’m just focused on Marcus’s development.
“We need a lot at the moment, (from) a talented guy like Marcus, and I forgot about the interview now. I just see what I see on the field.”
United’s defeat to the Cherries – their second in a row at Old Trafford – left them 13th in the Premier League at Christmas.
Amorim’s side return to Wolves on Boxing Day before hosting Newcastle next Monday.
