Ricardo Pietreczko hands Gian van Veen another early TV exit at PDC World Darts Championship

Ricardo Pietreczko he managed Gian van Veen another early exit from 2025 PDC World Darts Championships with ‘GVV The Giant’ well beaten after a display of numerous doubles penalties.

Pietreczko started the match with a score of 180 and was lucky when Van Veen missed eight darts to win the first match. The German took advantage by hitting tops and a 15-darter to increase the score to 2-0. The Dutchman had an excellent position to score but simply missed too many darts. Pikachu was sharp in the outside ring and took a 1-0 lead in sets after a double 4.

Early in the second set, Van Veen hit his first shuttle for a double. A great 127-darter gave “The Giant” a 1-0 lead. Pietreczko responded immediately with a 17-darter and returned to equal terms. This time the Dutchman kept his calm and after 73 and 78 finishes he increased the score to 1:1 in sets.

Pietreczko came out strong after the second break and managed to secure the first part of the third set, finishing with 122 points. The German then also scored 74 points and extended his lead. Van Veen fell behind in this set and had no chance of winning the doubles match. With a 17-darter, “Pikachu” finally secured the set.

Van Veen had his back to the wall and couldn’t afford to make any more mistakes. The Dutchman led 1-0 through the quadruple, but the next two games belonged to the German opponent. The Giant had another chance at the age of 77, but he was unable to take advantage of it. Pietreczko then finished the match with a score of 74.

The Dutchman, just like last year, lost his first match at the World Darts Championship. ‘Pikachu’ will return to Alexandra Palace after Christmas for the third round match. He will face the winner of the match between Rob Cross and Scott Williams, which will be played later tonight.
