Created a method for Valencia West Bromwich Albion’s head coach, Carlos Corberan, and talks are expected to accelerate on Tuesday. Corberán have a buyout clause of around £3m by the Spanish club after Ruben Barraza was sacked on Monday.
Valencia are second-tier in La Liga after two wins in 17 league matches and there is an emotional as well as a sporting attraction for Corberan. He was born about 20 miles from the city and played in Valencia’s academy and for their B team.
Corberán are at West Brom, who are seventh ChampionshipFrom October 2022. He was previously head coach at clubs including Huddersfield and briefly Olympiakos, and worked as assistant to Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds.

Valencia qualified for the Champions League with a fourth-place finish in 2019 but have not finished higher than ninth since then and were involved in another relegation battle two seasons ago.
