Heidenheim will face Copenhagen in the UEFA Conference League knockout play-offs.
The Bundesliga club was a qualifier in Friday’s draw, having finished 16th in the league stage of the Conference League after Thursday. 1-1 draw at home to St Gallen.
Heidenheim 15th-placed Real were paired with Betis as part of the draw and knew they could only face Gent or Copenhagen, who finished 17th and 18th respectively.
As a qualifying team, Heidenheim can host the second leg at home. The tie is scheduled for 13 and 20 February 2025 The winner will advance to the round of 16 to face either Chelsea or Portugal’s Vitoria Guimaraes with that draw taking place on February 21.
Round of 16 ties 6/13 March, quarters 10/17 April, semis 1/8 May and final in Wroclaw 28 May.
Kick-off times for the play-off ties will be confirmed after the conclusion of the UEFA Europa League league stage at the end of January.
