Kim Huybrechts went to 2025 PDC World Darts Championships with high expectations. The 39-year-old Belgian wanted to put things right after things immediately went wrong when he lost 3-0 in the first round to Richard Veentra at Alexandra Palace last year. Unfortunately for Huybrechts, he was eliminated in the first round again this year, losing 3-1 to Keane Barry.
Huybrechts didn’t do bad at all, averaging almost 97 points and reaching a maximum of 10. However, several missed doubles at key moments disappointed Huybrechts. “He threw everything away, took all the chances,” Huybrechts complained after the match VTM. “I have never trained so hard before and worked so hard preparing for a tournament and then you meet someone who is playing the match of their life. Then you think: why… why?”

Who did I do it for and why?” sums up Huybrechts. “No, I can’t say anything useful right now. It’s just that I can’t blame myself.” And then again: “Why?
