Sporting CP fire Ruben Amorim’s replacement Joao Pereira

Sporting CP Ruben sacked Amorim’s successor Joao Pereira after eight games as head coach and named Vitoria boss Rui Borges in the role.

Their fall in the Champions League has been even harsher. Amorim depart with the club in third place in the Champions League with three wins from their first four games. But lost 5-1 Arsenal and a loss Club Bruges leaving them languishing in 17th place.

Pereira’s last game in charge was a goalless draw against Gil Vincent on Sunday.

“A lion forever. Thank you, Joao Pereira,” Sporting wrote in Wednesday’s X in announcing his sacking.
