Brown made 362 appearances for the Red Devils between 1996 and 2011, first arriving at Old Trafford in 1992 after joining United’s academy.
During Brown’s time at the club, United won seven Premier League titles, two Champions League trophies, two FA Cups and two League Cups.
But there was one moment Brown will probably want to forget – and it came at one of United’s Christmas parties during Sir Alex Ferguson’s era.
‘Wes Brown was run at midnight or just before midnight,’ Ferdinand explained to him podcast. ‘We were working all day on a Christmas do and he was done. I will never forget [it].
‘Wes was a funny drinker. I remember Roy Keane stopped drinking and we were somewhere in Manchester and Wes kept trying to get Roy a drink.
‘You know Roy, he was ‘one more and I’ll have it in your head in a minute’, that sort of thing.

‘Wes was asked to leave. That’s the problem with footballers and alcohol, it always goes wrong.’
Fellow former United star Wayne Hargreaves added: ‘Most of the guys can’t really drink because you’ve got a game every three days.

‘No disrespect, but if you play one game a week in the Premier League, you have two or three days when you can go crazy.’
Meanwhile former United striker Daniel Nardillo has revealed that Ferguson once threatened to fire him after downing the ‘Wes Brown Special’ in a nightclub.

‘Monday morning comes and we’re in the office with Fergie and Neil Bailey and stuff. He (Fergie) said, ‘If you go to Manchester again, you’ll be fired from the club, you’ll leave the club’.
