Arne Slott admits Liverpool are aware of their current position in the Premier League table as they moved seven points clear at the top with a 3-1 win over Leicester City.
The Reds fell behind early on after Jordan Ayew scored for the visitors, but Cody Gakpo equalized just before the break with a fine curling effort.
Goals from Curtis Jones, on his 100th Premier League appearance, and Mohamed Salah gave Slott’s side another win as they retained the Premier League title.
Liverpool are now 12 points clear of losing ground in the top-flight this season, with only Manchester City (14) winning more.
When asked by BBC Sport whether he and his side were aware of how the table looked, Slott replied: “Of course we look at the table, it would be a bit strange to look the other way!”
But the Dutchman pointed to Man City’s plight – Pep Guardiola’s side started the season as league leaders but have slipped to seventh after a poor run – as a warning against complacency in his players.
He said, we know how difficult this league is.
“Just two months ago we were one point behind City. We know what this league can do when you get an injury or a suspension. It can happen to any team and if it happens, this league is very good for collecting points, so we have to be at the top of our game.”
“We have to take it one game at a time.”

Slott also highlighted the importance of Gakpo’s goal in bringing his side back level before half-time after dominating most of the match up to that point.
He said: “I think in the first 45 minutes we were around their 18-yard box a lot of times and created enough to score a goal, but if you don’t do that you never know what the end result would have been. Like if you don’t score just before half time.”
He also said his first Christmas as a Premier League manager was a stark contrast to Asad’s before, as there is no winter break like the Eredivisie.
“It doesn’t feel like Christmas at all!” He said
“Usually [in the Netherlands] You go on vacation and the feeling is a little different. Now it’s just another game.
“I think a lot of people in Holland are watching it now and they like it like I used to like it.”
