Recent reports have suggested that Real Madrid could sign Virgil van Dijk when his contract with Liverpool expires at the end of the season. But according to MarkLos Blancos have no interest in moving for the Netherlands captain, as they firmly believe he will sign a new contract with the Premier League leaders.
Van Dijk himself confirmed that he was in talks with Liverpool over a new contract and that he had been offered a formal initial offer which he rejected. However, Liverpool are expected to improve on that, and with Van Dijk keen to continue wearing the captain’s armband at Anfield, a deal could be struck at some point between now and next summer.
Real, meanwhile, are struggling with injuries in their back line and they will surely enter the market to strengthen it, whether in January or the summer, it remains to be seen. They may be resigned to turning away from Van Dijk, but they have a strong interest in Liverpool vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is also heading into the final season of his contract.
