Scotty SchefflerThe number one golfer in the world, will not be contested PGA TourIts 2025 season-opening tournament, The Sentry, in January after suffering a hand injury this week.
“While preparing dinner on Christmas Day, Scotty sustained a puncture wound to his right palm from a broken glass,” Scheffler’s manager said in a statement Friday. “Small shards of glass remained in the palm, which required surgery. He’s been told he should be back to 100% in three to four weeks.”
Sentry begins on Thursday, January 2 at the Kapalua Plantation Course in Maui, Hawaii and ends on Sunday, January 5. Scheffler’s next scheduled tournament, The American Express, was held January 13-19 in La Quinta, California.
Scheffler won Hero World Challenge (-25) after winning earlier this month Tour Championship In August (-30). He has won a combined seven PGA Tour events including 2024 Masters And The Players Championship.
Scheffler was recently named PGA Tour Player of the Year for the third year in a row.
