Chris Dobey edges past Josh Rock for spot in last 16 at the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship

Chris Dobey reached the fourth round in 2025 PDC World Darts Championships. “Hollywood” won in sets 4:2 Josh Rock in the third round, making it his sixth appearance in the last 16 matches for Alexandra Palace in the last seven years.

Interestingly, all the first four sets were won by a player who did not start them. In fact, the first set started with three breaks, two of which went to Rock. After Dobey missed five opportunities to increase the score to 2-2, the set ended 3-1 to Rock.

Dobey immediately opened the second set with a 13-darter break, but Rock immediately provided the rebound, finishing at 41. Dobey responded with a shot of 11 to increase the score to 2-1. The 64th set then gave “Hollywood” a straight sets victory. However, the Englishman immediately gave up and saw Rock go up 2-0 in the third set with an 11-darter. Dobey closed to 1-2 with a 16-darter, before Rock managed to win the set with a 15-darter and an 11-darter, Dobey himself making it 2-0 in Rock’s set. The Irish darter wasted six opportunities to put the score at 1 :2, then Dobey won the set with a 19-darter and increased the score to 2:2 by the break.

Dobey then became the first player to have his own set. He was leading 2-0, but Rock came back to 2-2 and even had a chance to take the set from 76. His set shot missed before Dobey finished 60-00 to secure the set.

With a score of 68, Dobey took the lead after a break in the sixth set. The former Masters winner then came close to winning, keeping his own leg with a 13-darter. Rock shot a 98 to stay in the match and halve the deficit in the sixth set, but Dobey still took the win with a 96.
