Thibault Tricole has entered into a special cooperation with his favorite football club. The French darts player is a fan of Lorient, a club in western France on the coast of Brittany.
The Lorient club logo will be visible on the Tricole World Cup shirt. “I will be wearing a special T-shirt with the FC Lorient logo on the back,” the former Lakeside finalist revealed in an interview with Flashscore.
It will be quite minimalist because we have limited space for communication. There will be some orange, but I didn’t want too much as it looked a bit too Dutch! The color of the shirt will be glazed (the color of the sea in Brittany), just like the FC Lorient third shirt.
In the interview, Tricole indicated that he would not receive money directly for wearing the Lorient logo. “It’s a communication partnership, not a financial one. However, the consequences could be very interesting to me. It’s about getting to know your partners. Sometimes this season I will be in the VIP area during a few games to put on a show. They will inform about my performances throughout the year via social networks.”
Tricole believes that combining darts and football is not a crazy collaboration. “Darts is still a British sport, just like football. It’s clear that in England there are also links between players and their favorite clubs, so it made sense to combine the two sports.
For the second year in a row, Tricole has booked a place in PDC World Darts Championships. He made his debut last year with a 3-1 win over Mario Vandenbogaerde before ‘The French Touch’ lost 3-0 to Rob Cross. At the upcoming edition of the World Darts Championship, Tricole will face Joe Comito in the opening match of the tournament on December 15. If he wins, there will be a meeting with current world champion Luke Humphries later in the evening.
