Arsenal winger Saka vows to ´come back stronger´ after surgery

Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka has vowed to return stronger after surgery which will rule him out for almost two months.

The 23-year-old picked up a hamstring injury during Arsenal’s 5-1 win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League on 21 December.

“Most see the obstacles, but rarely see the opportunities,” Saka posted on Instagram with a photo of him in a hospital bed.

“Recovery has begun and I’m coming back stronger! Thank you for your messages,” wrote the England international.

After their 1-0 win over Ipswich on Friday, the Arsenal manager confirmed that Saka had undergone surgery.

“He had a method. Everything was going well, but unfortunately he will be out for many, many weeks,” Arteta said.

“I said many weeks so I think it will be more than two months. I don’t know how long. It will depend on how the scar tissue begins to heal, in the first week or so. Let’s see, it’s very difficult to say.”

Saka’s absence will be a major blow for the Gunners, who are now second in the Premier League and six points behind Liverpool.

He has nine goals and 13 assists in 24 appearances in all competitions this season, with 15 of his goals coming in the league.
