In a later conversation, Littler talked about taking out his aggression and frustration as he averaged just 98 points, consistently rising to new standards and heights on an evening that saw Michael van Gerwen almost crash out of the tournament.

“Happy scorers, doubles needs to be a little better. If Ian had hit the doubles, everything would have gone his way. But luckily he missed it and I hit it in doubles,” Littler said.
“He was always right behind me from the beginning. If I hit 180, he always made it back. But it was good to leave them 184 after six overs and you are the favorite in this leg.”
“I know I can do better than 98, everyone knows that. Play in sets, it doesn’t matter what your average is. You can play 50/60 on average and still probably win the set. But this is what it’s all about, winning.”
“It was a case of winning the first game. Christmas and homecoming. Shortly after winning the first set I was involved in. I expect same old Ryan (Joyce) to hit a double for the first or second time, but I hope that happens. I miss, but for me, I hit them with doubles and hit shots whenever I can.”
He talked about bringing out ruthless aggression and that he didn’t want to be a nice person on the board and show his other side.
“It’s good for myself to show that I can be ruthless. Sometimes I’m not a nice person to be on board, I don’t think anyone else is. But it’s always good to have a little bit of aggression.”
“Ian has been on the show for many years, he played my grandfather. But it’s good to be ruthless, especially on the last dart, as many people see.”
