A recent report from Spanish outlet Marca claims that Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose contract with Liverpool expires at the end of the season, has informed his boyhood club Real Madrid of his decision to join Real Madrid as a free agent. however, Liverpool Echo denied this claim. The 26-year-old England international has yet to make up his mind, and his future has remained uncertain since the start of the season.
Alexander-Arnold will be able to talk to clubs outside of England about a potential summer move from January 1st and Real will certainly look to take advantage of that. Marker’s “report” is widely believed to be part of their strategy, designed to create friction between the player and his current club.
Another report in The Telegraph states that Liverpool are actually lax on the respective contract situations of Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, suggesting that all three would prefer to stay at Anfield.
However, as both Salah and Van Dijk have admitted, Alexander-Arnold has remained silent on the matter so far. There is clearly a possibility that he could join Real Madrid in the summer, but no decision has been made at this point.
