Beau Greaves‘ dreams of the third woman in a row WDF World Championships survive. On Friday evening in the quarterfinals, the 20-year-old sensation defeated Jitka Cisarova in straight sets and began a semifinal clash with the women’s darts icon Hedman data.
Cisarova played the best game of the first set, but in the end it was Greaves who won and showed her class by winning 3-1. After a slow start to the second round, Greaves showed her class with a score of 79 and 17 darts, and finished with a score of 12 darters. Real class as she went through the money 180, 95, 180, 46 to get the win.
“I didn’t play well,” Greaves said self-critically post-match interview. “But yeah, I mean, I can’t complain. I’m in the semi-finals and we’ll go from there. I trained really well, I felt good and as soon as I got there they were either high or low and that frustrates me a lot, but in the end I won and hopefully I can play better tomorrow.
As mentioned, in the semi-finals, women’s darts icon Deta Hedman is waiting for Greaves, her long-time partner and pairs mentor. “I know Deta very well and of course I have been pairing with her for several years. I think we have a lot of respect for each other and I just hope we will play a good match,” says Greaves. I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s match and of course I’ll try to play better than I did tonight.
“Deta and Paul, her partner, have come a long way. They looked after me while on tour, so I have a lot of time for both of them,” adds Greaves. “I think we’re both going to have a really good time and I just hope we have a really nice match. I really appreciate what Deta represents and what it does for the women’s game as well.”
