We have published hundreds – thousands? — instructional tips on GOLF.com over the last 365 days, and that’s just a small fraction of it all, taking into account everything that also appeared in GOLF magazine or in videos and clips circulating on GOLF.com’s social channels.
Some are consumed or viewed more often than others, but there was one particular beginner or high handicap tip that was more popular than the rest. The best part? It’s extremely simple and yet helpful.
GOLF staffer Nick Piastowski wrote about this tip back in Julybut we will repeat it here. An Instagram post by Sam De Sira, an instructor based in British Columbia, Canada, came to light.
Tip: How far away should you stand from the ball?
In the video below, De Sira walks you through his simple step-by-step guide.
Choose a club and position it over the ball if you intend to hit it. If you want to know if you’re too close or too far, just lower your trail hand and let it hang. It’s going down closer you’re too far away for you. If it falls away from you, you’re standing too close. Find that golden mean and you should be comfortable. That’s where you want to stand.
Pretty easy, right? You can follow De Sira and get more of his tips Here.
