Nathan Aspinall he hasn’t had to waste much energy so far PDC World Darts Championships. He lost only one set in three matches. Only Leonard Gates (3-1) managed to take a set in the first round, but Aspinall later defeated Andrew Gilding and Ricardo Pietreczko 4-0. Apart from the stage presence, something else stands out: Aspinall has a new look.
Darter, from Stockport, sported a recently trimmed beard. and a subtle change that may give him confidence on stage, although not everyone around him is happy with his new style. His partner Kirsty especially disagrees. “Kirsty is mad about this, but I’ll keep it until I win another major,” Aspinall announced after his easy victory over Pietreczko.
Aspinall is determined to maintain his new look for now. “I won’t let it grow out until I look like Santa Claus, and I’ll trim it if I have to. But I started growing a beard before the Players Championship finals in Minehead and it will stay that way until I achieve great success again – he added with a smile.
The current world number 12 has two major titles under his belt. He won his first major in 2019 at the UK Open. In 2023, he added the prestigious World Matchplay title.
