Wright criticized his rival Michael van Gerwen after a fourth-round victory over current world champion Luke Humphries. This comment was not without consequences. Well, in that case you’re not the boss at home, so I guess that’s true,” says Van der Voort.

The Dutchman met Wright’s wife many times over the years. It is rare for Wright to attend a tournament without his wife, as Joanne is responsible for “Snakebite’s” colored hair.
“But she’s not the easiest one,” Van der Voort continued. “I did an exhibition with him, and then you have to sit on stage and give autographs to everyone. She then just stood behind him to keep an eye on him. It’s not the easiest thing, but maybe he needs it too. Maybe he has money problems and that’s why he gets pocket money,” said The Dutch Destroyer.
Tonight, Wright will continue his quest for a third world title when he faces Stephen Bunting in the quarter-finals of the 2025 World Championships PDC World Darts Championships in the Alexandra Palace.
