“Overall it was a good performance. We all know Nathan never gives up, but tonight I pinged my doubles when it mattered,” he added. “From start to finish, it’s the best I’ve felt at this tournament – and I hope to feel the same tomorrow night. There were no nerves tonight – I just had fun, as I should have.”
In the semi-final, Luke Littler faced Stephen Bunting
Although Littler reaches the semifinals for the second year in a row, he is far from having everything going his way in this tournament. “Everyone saw how hard I had to kick in my first match against Ryan Meikle,” he recalled. “And sometimes when you have to win dirty, it’s an even better feeling.”
It’s been a full day on the calendar since Littler appeared on the scene Alexandra Palace. “From my perspective, last year went by quickly with me competing in Euro Tours, Pro Tours and the World Series,” he recalled. “But for the last two years I have spent New Year’s Eve relaxing in the hotel and I hope it will be like that every year now.”
Although the obstacle of Stephen Bunting still stands in Littler’s way, many are already talking about a dream finale between Littler and Michael van Gerwenwho must defeat Chris Dobey alone. “If everyone thinks that, that’s fine, but anything can happen in a World Cup semi-final,” Littler insists. “Stephen and I both know how well we can play against each other, so it will all depend on who shows up tomorrow night.”
