Anthony Joshua plans to fight Tyson Fury in 2025, vowing to continue boxing after his crushing defeat to Daniel Dubois in September.
Former world heavyweight champion Joshua was knocked out in the fifth round by fellow Briton Dubois at Wembley Stadium, suffering the fourth defeat of his career.
However, it does not seem that the 35-year-old is considering retirement and is counting on the long-awaited confrontation with Fury, who was recently outscored by Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia for the second time.
“2025, my target is Tyson Fury,” Joshua said while traveling to meet Nigerian President Bola Tinubu.
Recalling the fight with Dubois, he added: “It fills me with hunger, it makes me want to work harder. Time is of the essence, it’s limited, so I just want to put in more work.
“When I look back, I believe I could have done more in 2024. In 2025, I have another chance to do more, and I intend to take advantage of every opportunity that comes my way.
I should have won, but I didn’t and I’m going to go again.
“My life is full of ups and downs, so I have to get used to the turbulent times and continue to ride the wave.
“I can’t stop now. I have to keep going until I reach my destination.”
I’m talking to Heavenly sports following Fury’s loss to Usyk on December 21, Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, said: “It’s definitely the only fight for Fury and apart from the rematch with Dubois, it’s obviously the only fight for AJ.
“Has there ever been a better time? Both have suffered defeats, both at the end of their careers.
“One at Wembley, one in Riyad, two fights in 2025.”
