Łukasz Małyr is to PDC World Darts Championships for the second year in a row. The 17-year-old Englishman defeated Stephen Bunting 6-1 in the semi-final and will now face him Michael van Gerwenwith the right to put the Sid Waddell trophy on the line.
In fact, Littler had no major problems with Bunting in the semi-final, so at just 17 years old he can already be preparing for his second World Cup final. “Everyone is looking forward to it more than I am, but if I win seven sets, I will be happy,” Littler says honestly at the post-match press conference. “Michael has competed in many finals, this is my second one. I know where I went wrong last year and I’m sure I’ll fix it.”

Littler’s final with Van Gerwen is reminiscent of the fight between the mighty Dutchman and Phil Taylor for the title in 2013. On this occasion, experience proved crucial as Taylor pushed aside Van Gerwen in one of the grand finals of the PDC World Darts Championship. “It will mean everything. If I win seven sets, I will be delighted. I can’t wait to get on stage,” says Littler. “It’s a dream come true, everyone wants to win a trophy, but to achieve it you have to be at the top of your skills.”

Despite the huge prize money and, of course, his first world title, Littler remains calm. “Every night before the match I slept, I slept well, whereas last year I didn’t sleep at all because I was just ready for the next match,” he admitted. “But this year it’s a lot different. As soon as I heard about the back-to-back finals, I just rested, reset my batteries and got back into the game.”
