Łukasz Małyr capped off his debut year in the PDC on Friday night with his first world title. In the final played at Alexandra Palace, the 17-year-old Englishman defeated Michael van Gerwen 7:3.
Littler caused a stir at the 2024 World Darts Championship, reaching the final as a then-16-year-old without a PDC Tour Card. He ultimately lost 7-4 to Luke Humphries. However, it was the start of a great year for “The Nuke”.
Almost immediately after the World Cup final, he won the Bahrain Darts Masters, part of the World Series of Darts, his first-ever PDC title. In the following months, there was no stopping the super talent. Each month he won the title, with the absolute honors being the Premier League Darts and the Grand Slam of Darts.
With the addition of the world title, Littler now has 11 tournament wins with the PDC. In his debut year, he earned no less than 1,578,750. So, at a young age, he is already a millionaire.
Luke Littler shouts with the World Cup trophy in his hands
He won 156 of the 200 matches played last year, with an average of 99.44. His highest average in an official tournament was 114, and he scored an average of 100+ 98 times.
Record
Littler, who won the Ballon D’Art for the most 180s at the World Darts Championships, scored 180s 910 times throughout the year, an instant record, with no one ever achieving a better result.
And yet we are not at the end of the list to mention his impressive statistics. After all, Littler also threw four nine darts in his rookie year, including two in a televised tournament.
He ends his first full year in the PDC in second place in the world rankings, behind current number one Luke Humphries. Littler was also named Young Sports Personality of the Year by the British public broadcaster BBC.
Luke Littler’s entertaining last 13 months are the culmination of one of the craziest stories in sporting history, let alone darts history.
