Andy Hamilton he played three major finals in his career. Including the 2012 World Darts Championship final which he lost to Adrian Lewis. Still, he hasn’t been active on the PDC Pro Tour for a while, but he’s looking to change that next week.
Hamilton, now 57, does not currently have a PDC Tour Card but plans to try to get it back Q School next week. “The Hammer” has lost about 30 pounds over the past year and says he feels in better shape than ever.
“My game has been in good shape, my whole life,” Hamilton said. “I have lost a lot of weight in the last two years. I feel better, I have good concentration, good concentration. I also feel better about my health. Sometimes it’s not just about darts. This is about your health and my mental health is in good shape. I can’t wait to return to Q-School in January.
“I always said I wanted to take part in the PDC Tour. My career isn’t over yet. I still believe in my game. I may not be at the level I was before, but I still have good days. We’ll see how it goes.”
Andy Hamilton in action
“I always said I wanted to finish the PDC Tour. My career isn’t over yet. I still believe in my game. I may not be where I was many years ago, but I’m having fun with my game. Let’s see how it goes.
“I’ve been to Q-School a few times now, so I know what to expect. Now I’ve lost weight and feel better and have more endurance, so the whole week shouldn’t affect me that much.
Diabetes
Hamilton is especially pleased that he now leads a healthier lifestyle. “I have diabetes, which has had a huge impact on my life. I’m getting older – it’s never too late to change something – and I just felt it was time. I lost my 5th and reversed my diabetes, so I no longer take injections.”
