Trevor Immelman named next chairman of Official World Golf Ranking

Trever Immelman adds the mark.

The former Masters champion and current CBS chief golf analyst was announced Tuesday as the next chairman of the Official World Golf Rankings. Immelman, 45, will replace Peter Dawson, who has held the position since 2016, on April 10.

“The Official World Golf Ranking has always been a huge part of my life and professional career,” Immelman said. “Growing up in South Africa and falling in love with the game as a child, the ranking system allowed me to track and follow my favorite players and understand who the best players in the world were. Then, when I turned pro, my focus on rankings intensified because I knew that being in the top 50 would allow me to play in the biggest tournaments around the world. I am extremely honored to be following in the footsteps of Sir Michael Bonallack and Peter Dawson as President and look forward to working closely with the board members to ensure that OWGR remains committed to its mission.

Additional changes beginning in 2025 include low-ranked tournament winners receiving 50% more points, as well as the official inclusion of the PGA Tour of Taiwan in the OWGR system.
