Łukasz Małyr potentially breaking Phil Taylor’s record for most world titles, and people betting on him this early in the new world champion’s career is “ridiculous to consider” in opinion Richard Ashdown AND Mark Webster.
Many of the newspaper articles surrounding Littler’s first world title focused on the fact that he could break the record of the legendary Power.
However, Webster himself has said that there is so much money in the sport now that he could probably retire before he even gets close to that amount.
“You’d like to think it’s going to be so competitive that it’s going to be difficult, but he’s so young. It’s likely that’s not the case and whether he’ll still be hungry to play where he is, but I feel like he’ll be in a great position to retire. The players are also waiting in the wings. It’s going to be difficult,” Webster said on Love The Darts.
While Ashdown took yet another tack, saying it was ridiculous to even think about it at this point and that it was impossible to judge whether he would win another nomination on the 16th.
“We like to speculate and that’s why we’re sitting here, but I think it’s ridiculous. How can we judge whether he will ever win another world title, let alone 16. It’s hard to think about it.”
