More than two years after his arrest based on a complaint filed by a woman in 2022, a Premier League player may face rape charges, According to to the report in Telegraph.
Scotland Yard made the decision to ask prosecutors to build potential charges against the player after the Crown Prosecution Service had been gathering evidence for years since the original complaint was made.
Reports indicate that the said player has remained a mainstay in his team in the Premier League and even featured in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
“Met officers are investigating following a number of reports of alleged sexual offenses between 2021 and 2023,” a spokesman for the Metropolitan Police told The Telegraph. “The full file has been forwarded to the Crown Prosecution Service and detectives continue to engage with prosecutors.”
