Philadelphia 76ers recruit Jared McCain will miss the rest of the season after surgery on his left knee last month for a torn meniscus.
McCain, 20, spent one season in Prince Before Sixes made him his first-round draft pick in 2024. McCain had a fantastic start and averaged 15.3 points in 23 games. He started eight games and immediately became a fan favorite, thanks in large part to amassing nearly 5 million followers as a TikTok sensation.
McCain won Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month honors in November, but he complained of knee pain after the Dec. 13 game against Indiana.
McCain was one of the Sixers’ few highlights, scoring a career-high 34 points in a loss to Cleveland in mid-November. He has scored 20 or more points in eight games this season.
Injuries to Philadelphia stars Joel Embiid, Tires Maxey AND Paul George — nicknamed the team’s “Big Three” after George’s offseason arrival — limited the trio to playing parts of each other in just three games. As a result, the Sixers started the game with a score of 15-20.
Embiid (left foot sprain), Andre Drummond (left finger sprain), Kyle Lowry (right hip strain) i KJ Martin (left foot) were ruled out of Friday’s game against New Orleans. George is probably suffering from groin tightness.
