Penn State All-American defensive end Abdul Carter is entering the NFL draft, which he is expected to enter in the early first round, his agent Drew Rosenhaus told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Friday.
Carter, the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, recorded his 12th sack of the season during the Nittany Lions game 27-24 defeat Down Our Lady in Thursday’s College Football Playoff semifinal. He played in the match after recovering from a left shoulder injury he suffered in the quarterfinals against Boise State.
Mel Kiper Jr. of ESPN ranked Carter as the second-most available player The Great Tablet.
Carter has since been Penn State’s first consensus All-American selection Saquon Barkley in 2017. He moved from fullback to defensive tackle this season under new Nittany Lions defensive coordinator Tom Allen.
