Tottenham confirm Rodrigo Bentancur suffered concussion

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou confirmed the midfielder’s presence Rodrigo Bentancura suffered a concussion during the team’s match Carabao Cup semi-final victory Liverpool on Wednesday.

Bentancur collapsed on the pitch in the sixth minute of the competition and was taken off on a stretcher eight minutes later. He was then immediately taken to hospital for tests.

“Of course we will follow the protocols now, in a few weeks we will have to make sure everything is OK, but fortunately it looks like a concussion but nothing more than that.”

The Australian coach praised his players for the way they handled the incident.

“It was disturbing and you saw it, especially Pedro [Porro] who was there first and kind of knew it was a disturbing situation,” he said. “But I think the guys handled it well, the medical team handled it well and, like I said, luckily he’s OK.”

Spurs travel to Minnows Tamworth on Sunday for an FA Cup third round match. Tamworth plays in the National League, the fifth tier of English football.
