James Justin scored his second double of the season to help Leicester progress to the fourth round of the FA Cup with a crushing 6-2 victory over QPR.
Ruud van Nistelrooy’s men put in a professional performance after the break and gave the Dutchman his second victory as coach, which could also have given the Foxes a boost to their Premier League survival.
Justin put Leicester ahead in foggy conditions at the King Power Stadium before QPR equalized through Jonathan Varane’s firecracker, but the hosts put breathing room between themselves and the Championship visitors after goals from Stepha Mavididi and Facundo Buonanotte.
Immediately after the first half, Harry Winks lazily scored a goal for Rayan Kolli and reduced the deficit to 3-2, which, however, did not worry Leicester, who showed their highest quality in the second 45.
Justin’s second goal, Jamie Vardy’s penalty on his 38th birthday and Wout Faes’ beauty – a 30-yard strike into the top corner after a mad dash forward – ensured a run of five defeats in a row.
