Orji has played in three games for the Wolverines this season and has started a career-high 20 games there. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Orji scored seven touchdowns in his career. He played in 11 games this year, many of them in short yardage or in the red zone to utilize his dual-threat skills in the middle of the field.
This season, Orji ran 57 times for 269 yards and one touchdown. He also completed 25 of 47 passes for 150 yards and three touchdowns.
Orji told ESPN he is excited to join new UNLV coach Dan Mullen and offensive coordinator Corey Dennis.
“Going to Vegas with Coach Mullen and Dennis seemed like a great opportunity,” he told ESPN. “This is an opportunity to cultivate a winning culture.”
Mullen has a long history of developing quarterbacks, and Dak Prescott is one of them Mississippi StateAlex Smith w Utah and Tim Tebow w Florida these are the ones who enjoyed working with him as a head coach or offensive coordinator.
As an assistant, Dennis recruited and worked with many famous quarterbacks Ohio Stateand spent the last season in Tulsa as quarterback coach and passing game coordinator.
Orji is 6-foot-10 and 235 pounds and made his first career start for Michigan this season against the team USC. Orji has featured in numerous game-changing situations throughout his career, carrying the ball 15 yards twice in Michigan’s victory over Washington and combined for 54 yards in Michigan’s last two wins Ohio State.
He also appeared in and against the 2023 Big Ten title game Alabama in the Rose Bowl this season.
