This is Keegan Bradley’s Ryder Cup year, whether he plays great golf or not. But what if he does play golf throughout 2025? What then?
We enter this reality in early 2025, with Bradley just two shots back of the leader and with 18 holes to play at the Sony Open. He is 38 years old appointed captain of the American Ryder Cup team in September, but if he continues to play as well as he has over the last 18 months, he will certainly be in the role of playing captain.
Bradley had a strong showing on Saturday in Honolulu, shooting a 64 and eight birdies to put him in contention. On the last day he loses two advantages to JJ Spaun. A victory would vault Bradley into the top 12 of the current American Ryder Cup rankings, and you know what that means. The team consists of twelve players.
Bradley has repeatedly said he will only play Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black if he manages to automatically qualify for the team, which would require him to finish in the top six. It’s a huge feat, but it’s getting there. Winning would mean no. 7th place in the Official World Golf Ranking, which is the highest result of his career.
In addition to Ryder Cup points, FedEx Cup points and a potential eighth Tour de France victory, Bradley and the rest of the field are also vying for their share of the $8.7 million purse. You can see how it all breaks down below.
