Chelsea are pushing to re-sign Marc Guehy from Crystal Palace but their asking price has so far been delayed, Offside has been informed.
The 24-year-old left Stamford Bridge for Selhurst Park in 2021 and has become a top target for the Premier League side who are looking to seal a deal during the January transfer window.
With Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashle both sidelined, Chelsea are in desperate need of reinforcements. Gueshi is open to a return to his former club as he wants to stay in London, while Enzo Maresca is also said to be keen to add his experience to the squad. Geshe has 18 months left on his contract but Palace are still seeking maximum value for their centre-back.

As things stand, the Blues appear to be the only serious contenders for Gueye, but Crystal Palace still hold out hope of a bidding war this summer. The club had hoped – and expected – that Liverpool would sign the England international, but CaughtOffside understands the Reds are not targeting the defender.
Newcastle United continue to hold tentative interest. At the request of Eddie Howe, the Magpies made multiple bids for Guerhy this summer, with offers reaching a club-record £70 million. However, Crystal Palace stand firm and are unwilling to lose their captain after agreeing to sell Joachim Andersen to Fulham. A long-term injury to new signing Chady Riad prompted their decision to keep Gehi at the time.
Trevor Chalobah hopes to stay at Palace amid Chelsea interest
Another option for Chelsea is to recall Trevor Chalobah, who is currently on loan at Crystal Palace.
The Blues are weighing up a return for him but could also sell him permanently to Palace to raise funds for other signings. Chalobah has played 1,243 minutes with the Eagles so far, making 14 appearances in all competitions and scoring three goals.
The 25-year-old was reportedly hesitant about returning to Chelsea after being frozen out in the summer, losing his squad number and training separately from the first-team squad. Instead, he hopes to stay at Selhurst Park for the long term.
