Steve Beaton took the early lead on Monday, finishing day one in Group A in the top spot after winning four of five games as the inaugural League of Legends Week got underway during the Modus Super Series.
1996 Lakeside World Champion Beaton, who had recently retired from the PDC Tour, made his Super Series debut and won four games from five to take his first lead in Group A, recording wins over Robert Thornton, Richie Howson, Richie Burnett and Devon Petersen, who suffered their only defeat against Neil Duff, currently have 8 points out of 10.
Elsewhere, three players: Richie Howson, Richie Burnett and Neil Duff finished the day in 2nd, 3rd and 4th place respectively, scoring 6 points each, while Robert Thornton and Devon Petersen are 5th and 6th with 2 each points each.
The Modus Super Series will continue on Tuesday with six players returning in the hope of increasing their chances of securing a place in Saturday’s final, with Beaton leading so far.
The match will start at 9:30 GMT and will be broadcast live on the Modus YouTube channel, Pluto TV or on the websites of various bookmakers around the world.
