Viinikainen Claims MSS Womens Week II

On Saturday, Finland’s Kirsi Viinikainen emerged victorious and was crowned the winner of Women’s Week (II) at the Modus Super Series, after defeating Laura Turner in the final to claim the title and top prize.

Viinikainen, who entered the final after winning Group B on Thursday and Friday, started the evening by winning both group stage matches, beating Lorraine Winstanley and Steph Clarke to advance to the semi-finals.

The Finn faced Vicky Prui and from there Viinikainen defeated the Belgian-Swede 3-2 and secured her place in the final.

In the decider, Viinikainen faced Laura Turner, who had beaten Lorraine Winstanley in the last four, and the Finnish star whitewashed Turner 3-0 to become the Women’s Week (II) winner and join Wales’ Rhian O’ Sullivan on the roll of honour.

The Modus Super Series returns on Monday with the inaugural week of Legends League
starting with his Super Series debut for 1996 Lakeside World Champion Steve Beaton.
