Already out Scottie Scheffler, American Express field loses another two-time major winner

On Monday evening, the American Express field had another major success.

With world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler withdrawing as he continues to recover from a right hand injury, No. 2 Xander Schauffele was one of the last WDs from the pro-am tournament in La Quinta, California.

The PGA Tour has not given a reason for W.D. Schauffele.

Schauffele posted a disappointing T-36 at Kapalua two weeks ago and was also involved in TGL’s debut last Monday when Schauffele’s New York Golf Club team was defeated by The Bay 9-2.

Joining Schauffele and Scheffler in withdrawing from AmEx were Maverick McNealy and Seamus Power on Saturday and Denny McCarthy on Monday. McNealy’s doctor put Matthew Riedel as the latest Q-School graduate on his priority list.

No. 7 Wyndham Clark is the only player remaining in the top 10 in the AmEx rankings. #3 Rory McIlroy joins #8 Viktor Hovland and #10 Tommy Fleetwood this week playing in the Hero Dubai Desert Classic on the DP World Tour.
