On Monday, PDC confirmed the list of participants for the Dutch Darts Masters. A tournament that is part of World Darts Series will take place on January 24 and 25 in Maaspoort in Den Bosch.
The World Series of Darts is a series of seven invitational tournaments played around the world. These seven tournaments will be followed by the World Series of Darts finals at Afas Live in Amsterdam, where the top players from all tournaments compete for a total prize pool of £300,000.
In addition to the Premier League Darts players (Luke Humphries, Luke Littler, Michael van Gerwen, Rob Cross, Stephen Bunting, Gerwyn Price, Chris Dobey and Nathan Aspinall), eight local players also joined the ranks.
These are seven Dutchmen (Danny Noppert, Dirk van Duijvenbode, Gian van Veen, Raymond van Barneveld, Jermaine Wattimena, Kevin Doets and Richard Veenstra) and one Belgian (Dimitri Van den Bergh).
Mike De Decker won last year’s World Grand Prix
Decker
NO Mike Decker in the field. Previously, the Belgian was already omitted from the Premier League Darts, and now, when he will not play in the Dutch Darts Masters, a wave of criticism has fallen on social media. For example, someone wrote: “Stop using the entire Premier League Darts field for these tournaments.” Someone else wrote: “Give other players a chance. We’ve seen enough of these eight players over the weeks. Where is DeDecker? And Wessel Nijman?”
However, it later became clear why De Decker was not selected for the Dutch Darts Masters. The 29-year-old Belgian is on vacation and will only return in the evening, when the tournament in Hertogenbosch starts.
Last year’s Dutch Darts Masters tournament was won by Van Gerwen, beating Littler 8-6 in the final. This year, the winner will receive a check for £20,000.
