Van der Voort lost his PDC Tour Card following the conclusion of the previous Darts World Championships and chose not to immediately attempt to regain it at Q-School. The 49-year-old Dutchman wants to focus mainly on the Modus Super Series this year and his participation in the Senior World Championships. He is therefore no longer participating in the PDC Pro Tour, but TOTO (the sponsor of the Dutch Darts Masters) still wanted Van der Voort to be among the eight Benelux players in Hertogenbosch. However, this was not an option for PDC as Van der Voort does not have a tour card.

“It really doesn’t make sense,” Van der Voort replied on his Darts Draait Door podcast. Van der Voort especially points to Fallon Sherrock, who was often invited to World Series tournaments in recent years and did not have a Tour Card. “There is PDC everywhere. If an award is given for keeping your head down, Matt Porter (CEO PDC, ed.) is in first place. When you hear him talk, it all seems like a lot. But in the end it always turns out he’s just talking down his throat.”
