The “Dutch destroyer” informed Sportnieuws.nl that he is struggling with gout. Gout is a form of inflammatory rheumatism that causes severe joint pain. As a result, the joints become thick, red and hot. This led Van der Voort to decide not to participate in Legends Week as part of the Modus Super Series. Instead, the 49-year-old will rest.

This means you will lose part of the prize money. All participants receive £250 per day as standard. With bonuses, this amount can rise to £20,000 for the season winner.

However, Van der Voort is still expected to compete in the Senior World Darts Championships as usual in February. The Dutchman will face former WDF world champion Neill Duff there in the first round. The Dutchman hopes that the pain will subside by then and he will be able to compete there in top form.
