Tour Card handed in, but Steve Beaton can still produce in reaching MODUS Super Series Final

The MODUS Super series is hosting “Legends Week” this week. In this, Steve Beaton was the first to qualify for Saturday’s final stage. The ‘Bronze Adonis’ handed over his Tour Card at the end of the PDC Darts World Championships, but proved he was still a force to be reckoned with and won his group by a wide margin.

The MODUS Super Series is a weekly tournament in which 12 players compete from Monday to Friday for a place in the final group, which takes place on Saturday evening. The player who finishes first after three sessions qualifies directly for the finals on Saturday evening. On the final night, players compete in a small group stage, followed by semi-finals and finals to determine the winner of the week.

The competition begins again next week, with twelve new players vying for the title. After twelve weeks of competition, all weekly winners take part in ‘Champions’ Week’, which takes place every thirteen weeks to determine the winner of the series and the winner who will claim the top prize of £20,000.

On Saturday, Steve Beaton was the first to qualify for the final stage

This week will be ‘Legends Week’ with players including Steve Beaton, Vincent van der Voort, Robert Thornton and Richie Burnett.

Beaton won his group, finishing top of the group with 22 points, and the 60-year-old Englishman won 11 of his 15 matches. This took him four points more than numbers two and three, Neil Duff and Richie Burnett. Ritchie Howson had 16 points, Devon Petersen had 14 and Robert Thornton closed out the series with two points.

Numbers two to six in this group will now be divided into two new groups that will play for the remaining places in the Final Stage on Thursday and Friday. Vincent van der Voort will also appear on the pitch from Thursday.
