Thunder sit Shai Gilgeous-Alexander vs. Mavs due to wrist

DALLAS– Thunder in Oklahoma superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander He waited out Friday’s game against Dallas Mavericks due to a sprain of the right wrist.

Gilgeous-Alexander, the NBA’s scoring leader and MVP frontrunner, joined the injury report late.

The Thunder opted to play Gilgeous-Alexander after he completed an abbreviated warmup.

Gilgeous-Alexander put on the wristband after Thursday’s home win against Liverpool Cleveland Cavaliers. He said he felt some pain after falling during his 40-point performance.

“I felt good this morning, but then I came to the arena and felt a little sore,” Thunder coach Mark Daigneault said before Gilgeous-Alexander checked his wrist during the warmup.

Gilgeous-Alexander played in all 40 games for Oklahoma City, which started 34-6, averaging 31.6 points, 6.0 assists, 5.4 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.1 blocks.
