Phil Taylor turns to new punditry role but not Sky Sports

Phil Taylor will be on the expert bench tonight for MODUS Super series A Legends Lounge finale, very fitting for the greatest player of all time.

Taylor plied his trade alongside other legends on the World Seniors Tour before undergoing hip surgery and landing a spot in the MODUS Super Series. Now on Pluto TV instead of YouTube, Taylor won’t be in it, but he will provide some analysis.

“I work with Pluto TV who streams all the material for MODUS,” Taylor told The Mirror.

“It’s a free live broadcast, they play old stuff too. My grandchildren love it.”

– I’ll be there, you won’t get rid of me that easily. I will do journalism, host the show and commentate on some games, regardless of what they actually ask me to do.”

According to the same report, Sky Sports knocked on Taylor’s door to work on his expertise or commentary. But he turned them down because he doesn’t like being on the road very much.

Since retiring from the sport, he has said he prefers to stay at home with his grandchildren rather than in hotels, which is why he will not host Sky Sports.

“It’s perfect for me. I couldn’t work on Sky, there are too many tournaments for me.

“I wouldn’t be able to do it now. It’s not for me, I can’t stay in hotels all the time. I like home life too much.”
