LIV Golf recently announced that the tour has signed a broadcast deal with Fox Sports.
In a statement, LIV’s new CEO, Scott O’Neil, commented on the deal, saying:
“We are excited to partner with FOX Sports, one of the leading television networks in the world. LIV Golf is getting bigger and bolder, and this relationship signals the next phase of development as our League joins the company of the best sports leagues and conferences in the country. I want to thank the FOX Sports team who share our vision for the future of golf – a new model that redefines how the sport is experienced.”
Longtime LIV critic Brandel Chamblee reacted to the deal over the weekend and asked the following question on social media:
“I’m looking forward to seeing the actual financial results… Did Fox pay for the rights or was this another purchase?”
Chamblee has been one of the most vocal critics of the Saudi-backed tour since its inception, and when a fan suggested that he had never heard the analyst speak positively about LIV, Chamblee didn’t hold back and wrote on Twitter:
Why would someone who isn’t paid to hide his objectivity “cover up”
LIV in a positive way. The money comes from sewage and the product smells worse than the source. https://t.co/kwdATCrlQy— Brandel Chamblee (@chambleebrandel) January 17, 2025
Time will tell how LIV’s cooperation with Fox Sports will develop, but it is undoubtedly a significant move in the context of the upcoming tour.
