Marcus Rashford: Man Utd forward not giving up on playing for club again

Marcus Rashford has not given up all hope of playing for Manchester United again.

Rashford has not featured for United since being substituted in the Europa League win over Viktoria Plzeƈ on December 12, after which head coach Ruben Amorim questioned his performance in training.

The 27-year-old was on the bench once at half-time when he was an unused substitute in Newcastle’s 3-0 home defeat on December 30.

Asked about Rashford after Sunday’s 3-1 defeat to Brighton at Old Trafford Amorim said “it’s his choice”, which led to speculation that Rashford asked not to be considered.

However, club sources do not believe this is what Amorim had in mind and believe the former Sporting boss only outlined that Rashford’s future was in his own hands.

Sources close to the player emphasize that Rashford wants to play for United and has no major problems with Amorim and would play if called up.

Rashford has been linked with a number of European clubs and there is still a chance he will leave on loan before the current transfer window closes in early February.

It is unknown how often Rashford trained for the first time since his exile from Amorima’s matchday squad began.

Cameras will be allowed into United’s Carrington training ground on Wednesday to film the first 15 minutes of the club’s pre-match session ahead of their crucial Europa League clash with Rangers at Old Trafford.

Both clubs currently occupy the coveted top eight places, with United in seventh place with 12 points and Rangers a point and a place behind them.

However, 17th-placed Pilzno is just three points behind United with two games remaining and neither club is even sure of a play-off place.
